Attack in MTG

To declare an untapped creature as an attacker during your combat phase.

Why it matters

The active player declares attackers at the start of the declare attackers step. Creatures normally cannot attack if they are tapped or affected by summoning sickness.

Common mistakes

  • Creatures attack players, planeswalkers, or battles—not other creatures.
  • Declaring attackers does not use the stack.
