Indestructible in MTG

This permanent cannot be destroyed by effects or lethal damage.

Why it matters

Indestructible stops destruction, including the state-based action for lethal damage. It does not stop sacrifice, exile, a toughness of zero, or other ways of leaving the battlefield.

Visual example

Survive lethal damage

Lightning Bolt

Deals lethal damage but cannot destroy the Myr

  1. 1Lightning Bolt deals three damage to Darksteel Myr.
  2. 2State-based actions see lethal damage marked on it.
  3. 3Indestructible prevents the Myr from being destroyed.

Common mistakes

  • Indestructible does not prevent damage.
  • Reducing an indestructible creature's toughness to zero still puts it into the graveyard.
