Flash in MTG
You may cast this card any time you could cast an instant.
Why it matters
Flash changes casting timing. It usually lets you cast a nonland card while another player has the turn, provided you have priority.
Visual example
Cast during combat
- 1An opponent attacks and then passes priority.
- 2Cast Ambush Viper because it has flash.
- 3After it resolves, the Viper can be declared as a blocker if the step permits.
Real card example
Ambush Viper
Can be cast during an opponent's combat
Common mistakes
- Flash does not make a card an instant.
- You still need priority and must obey other casting restrictions.
